Would you like to learn how to surf ?

Would you like to learn how to surf ? Playa Encuentro on the North Coast is a great place to learn.

A little of Latin America and a large portion of Caribbean, this is the explosive cocktail of the Dominican Republic. The north coast is full of surf spots with turquoise water and more accessible: Cabarete, Playa Grande and Sosua. The best known spot is Encuentro, 5 minutes away from Cabarete.
And every night "half Bachata and half House" rocks the dance floor with a bit of "Cuba libre" and smiles of the Dominicans

  • Playa Grande is a short drive from Cabarete. It has a beautiful beach of white sand and very few people in the gorgeous turquoise water. It is a perfect spot for long powerful straight waves with a fast shorebreak. Make sure you eat lobster at the spot!

  • La Preciosa: close to Playa Grande.  Waves consistent with the view make great memories.

The north coast of the Dominican Republic receives the waves directly from the North Atlantic from November to March. Depressions from the U.S. create waves that vary from 1 to over 3 meters, and sometimes up to 5 meters, several times a year.

From September to May, you can surf on the North Caribbean coast.

Prevailing winds are N and NE throughout the year.  The wind is the strongest only in the afternoon starting around 1 pm .  Morning Surf sessions are recommended.
